SOUTHSIDE TITANS SKATING SATURDAY, MARCH 20TH

We are asking all skaters young and old within the Southside Titans Family to get ready to lace up your roller skates.  Once again, we will be taking part in our annual family skating event on Saturday, March 20th, 2010 at Southwestern Rollerskating Center.  The event will be held from Noon until 4pm.  The cost to skate is $7 per person.  Please note that everyone that enters must pay a $7 entry fee even if you choose not to skate.  Southwestern Rollerskating Center is located at 6401 S. Western.  It is on Western between S.W. 59th and S.W. 74th.  The skating center is on the west side of the street.  We encourage all Titans family members to invite your friends and family.  In other words, you are free to come even if you are not an official Southside Titans member yet.  We just want you to come out and have fun.  We hope to see you there.  Go Titans!!!


DEL CITY SILVERBACKS 2010 FOOTBALL SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN

Our beloved semi-pro football team, the undefeated Del City Silverbacks, led by team owner Freddy Franklin along with head coach Reggie Lee and his coaching staff, have been involved in conditioning, weights, and other workouts.  Official practices have already been taking place each weekend for the upcoming 2010 football season.  Practices are at 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.  The Del City Silverbacks hold their practices at Highland Park Elementary.  Address is 5301 S. SOUTHSIDE TITANS WINTER GEAR COMING SOON

Now that the weather has turned cold and frigid, we have been receiving multiple requests to purchase Titans gear for the 2010 winter season.  Hoodies this year will be available in red or gray.  The costs for kids sizes youth small through youth large is $22.  For all adult sizes, the cost is $25.  Adult sizes go up to 4X.  We also have stocking caps and beanies available in red, white or black to keep your head warm too.  The cost for stocking caps or beanies is $13.  For those still interested in Titans ball caps, they are $20 and are available in red, white or black.  Please see your basketball or wrestling secretary if you are interested in placing orders after the holidays have passed.  Last day to officially order was on Wednesday, February 24th!!!  Orders will be returned to you in early March.  As always, we Represent Like A Family in our Titans gear and we don't want you to be left out when we are strong in the public community.



WE TELL STORIES POETRY NIGHT SATURDAY MARCH 27TH

Our next grown up event (We Tell Stories) will be at Java Dave's.  It is located at 10 N.E. 10th Street.  Java Daves is just east of Broadway right after the train tracks.  It starts at 8pm.  The cost is only $8 to enter.  To confirm good seats, we recommend that you get there early.  This is an official christian event.  They serve food, coffee and pastries for your stomach.  There will be door prizes, live music and poetry to fill your soul.  Speaking of poetry and soul, we encourage you to come out and support one of our own Southside Titans Family members, Kendal S. Turner.  She is a well known and respected poetess who has a published autobiography as well as two poetry books to her credit.  She is a crowd favorite at Java Dave's.  Personally, she has a son who plays for the Big Soldiers football team.  Everyone is encouraged to come out on Saturday, March 27th and show your Southside Titans love for Kendal.


GROWN FOLKS BOWLING NIGHT SATURDAY, JANUARY 9TH

Our first event for the 2010 year was the Southside Titans grown folks bowling night.  We are now in our third year, and as always, we tend to have fun.  Grown folks bowling night consists of us temporarily getting away from our children so that we can get loose in our own way without being supervised by our kids.  Grown folks night took place at 7pm on Saturday, January 9th, 2009 at Holiday Lanes.  Simply put, we had a great time.  We had a total of 53 people bowling and socializing within the crowd as the music played in the background.  Prizes were given away throughout the night.   Although the bowling alley officially closed at 1230am, many of us weres still outside the parking lot having a good time.   Hopefully, we will be able to have another grown folks night based on the demands of the people that attended.  Stay tuned.


ANYONE INTERESTED IN TAE-KWON-DO?

We have had a few requests for some martial arts or self defense classes.  So at this time, we are taking some petitions and or requests for individuals who may be interested in Tae-Kwon-Do.  We would like to cater to the children first and foremost, but the door is also going to open for adults who also have a strong interest.  If this is another avenue for your child and/or yourself to take part in, please e-mail contact our founder.  He can be reached at coachrobbie@southsidetitans.org , or you can reach him via telephone.  His number is listed on the "Contacts" website page.


DID SOMEONE SAY SOUTHSIDE TITANS BOXING?

That's right...We have set up a Southside Titans Boxing Club.  At this time we are waiting on a few small details to finalize for our upcoming boxing matches in February.  If everything checks out correctly, start preparing for our newest sporting event.  Boxing is an individual, but well respected disciplined sport.  We officially had our first ever boxing practice sessions on Monday, December 7th, 2009.  If you have children as young as age 7 up through the teenage years interested in taking part in this soon to be historical event, practices will be Monday through Thursday from 630pm to 8pm.  Practices on Friday will be from 6pm-730pm.  Please contact Coach Lavell Sims at 816-1013, or you can go to the "Boxing" page of our website.  We also have boxing available for the adults too.  Adult boxing will be five days a week Monday-Friday.  If you have additional questions, you can also contact our founder.  His e-mail address is coachrobbie@southsidetitans.org .  His phone number is also listed on the "Contacts" page of this website.


CONGRATULATIONS TO ROBBIE DIAMOND JR.

February 4th, 2009 was the NCAA Division 1 Football National Signing Day.  We have one of our own former Maroon Panthers/Southside Titans football players who will be playing football on the national level.  Congratulations are in order for Robbie Diamond Jr for all his efforts while attending Putnam City Original High School.  He will be attending Weber State University in Ogden, Utah this summer on a four year full ride athletic scholarship.  As a football captain, his 96 tackles and 3 interceptions at the safety position earned him honors in his conference, district and was awarded player of the year at his school.  Offensively, he was a special threat at the wide receiver postion with 3 touchdowns and an all conference and all district accolades averaging 14 yards a catch.  Recently on May 30th 2009, Robbie was a starter on both sides of the field in the annual and prestigious Jim Thorpe 2009 All Star Weekend.  This classic involved him playing as the featured receiver and free safety against some of the best players in the state of Oklahoma.  For those who don't know Robbie, this is the son of our Southside Titans founder, Robbie Diamond Sr.  This 2009 year was special for coach Robbie Sr. because five of his former players he coached were also chosen to play division 1 NCAA football.  Way to represent the Southside Titans family Robbie Jr!!!
